Since joining ODL in 2014, John has assisted faculty in using the latest pedagogical research and education technology in their online and face-to-face courses. He has consulted with multiple colleges and departments, such as the College of Music and Department of Religion, to develop their initial online courses. John has worked with the College of Nursing to expand their online graduate course offerings and is helping them develop an online Doctor of Nursing Practice. He also assists in evaluating potential technologies for Canvas.

John plays a leading role in the university's development and implementation of accessibility and universal design to promote an inclusive learning environment. To help ensure accessible course content, he trains faculty and staff on accessibility and universal design technologies. John has taught online and face-to-face courses at FSU, Tallahassee Community College, and Utah State University. He received his doctoral degree in Religious Studies with a focus on American Religious History from Florida State University.
