Testing Center Fall 2026 Services

The FSU Testing Center serves the campus community this semester with in-person proctored testing at our main campus facility, off-campus distance learning exam coordination, and online proctoring through SmarterProctoring Live.

The FSU Testing Center, located on the main campus, proctors FSU course exams and specialty exams like CLEP and Modern Language Placement.

In-person Testing

The main campus Testing Center proctors FSU course exams as well as Modern Language Placement, CLEP, and Microsoft Office and Adobe certification exams. We also coordinate testing for distance learning students through a network of approved, off-campus proctoring sites. Requests are reviewed on a first-come basis and must be approved before students can register for appointments.* Once a request for services is approved, instructors should be prepared to take the following steps:

• Review our updated testing and fee disclosure information and copy it into your course syllabus.
• Review and follow our exam preparation procedures to ensure exams are ready for review in Canvas 14 days before the exam start date. 

*Please note the window to request Fall services opened in April 2026. Availability is limited during week 5 (September 21-25), week 12 (November 9-13), and finals week (December 7-11).

SmarterProctoring Live

Keep in mind that SmarterProctoring is available only by request and only for high-stakes exams in online courses.

SmarterProctoring Live replaced Honorlock as the university’s online proctoring provider on May 1, 2026, offering improved security for exams administered online. To ensure students are informed about fees associated with proctored testing and are provided access to an alternative testing option, please be aware of the following before submitting a request:

• SmarterProctoring is available only by request and only for high-stakes exams in online courses.
• Instructors using SmarterProctoring must offer an alternative testing option for students who prefer to test in person with an FSU-approved proctor near them.
• Instructors will need to verify that fees have been appropriately disclosed to students in the syllabus distributed on the first day of class

In-Class Testing

Akindi and the Respondus Lockdown Browser are available to support instructors administering exams in the classroom. Akindi allows instructors to print and scan multiple-choice tests and surveys from their home or office and now features support for math equations and written answers such as essays and short-answer responses. The Respondus Lockdown Browser helps mitigate cheating on tests administered in the classroom by preventing students from accessing applications or websites outside the Canvas environment.
