Classroom Technology Enhances Learning
Technology-Enhanced Classroom Support (TECS) manages 271 classrooms in 49 buildings across the Tallahassee main campus, meeting a range of technology needs to support teaching and learning at the university.
By integrating technologies into the classroom, the TECS team creates modern, efficient spaces that instructors can adapt to fit their teaching style. Students discover a state-of-the-art learning space that allows them to engage with their peers and thrive in a technology-driven world.
By using advanced projection, document cameras, sound, wireless collaboration, software, and AI-driven solutions, the team can transform traditional classrooms. “We utilize equipment with embedded AI, specifically, camera tracking with Huddly and Sony cameras,” said TECS Assistant Director Matt Mortimer. In addition, the team offers classroom technology training, resources, and technical support to colleges and departments.
The mission of TECS is to create learning environments where technology seamlessly enhances the classroom experience.
Over the summer, the team prepared classrooms for the new College of Business’s Legacy Hall, which will be the largest lecture hall on campus. “The first classes will be in the spring [2026], but the Business School will be moving in during the fall,” said Mortimer. “We have over 20 classrooms in this building and have been working closely with the College of Business.”
In addition to the summer work in Legacy Hall, the team renovated lecture halls in the Fisher, Sandels, Fine Arts, Duxbury, and University Center B buildings.
As part of a university-wide alignment of technology expertise, TECS became a part of the Office of Digital Learning in 2024. For more information about classroom support, visit the TECS website.
