The Office of Digital Learning and Academic Technology (ODL) is offering a train-the-trainer program designed to support departments as they provide course content accessibility assistance to their faculty. If you have been designated by your dean or department chair to serve as a course content accessibility liaison, we will equip you to serve as an accessibility trainer within your department. After participating in course accessibility training, you will have the knowledge and resources you need to guide colleagues in the creation of accessible course content.
Workshop Registration
Training begins with a 90-minute, hands-on workshop at the Office of Digital Learning Faculty Development Lab. Bring a laptop: You will practice what you're learning during the workshop by following along in a Canvas development site we create for you as part of the training. In addition to learning foundational concepts for Canvas course site accessibility, you'll learn how to
- remediate Canvas course documents,
- use tools like Ally to identify and address inaccessible content, and
- make course files such as Word, PowerPoint, and more accessible for learners.
You will also be enrolled in a dedicated Canvas training site that provides additional resources for ensuring course content meets accessibility standards. After completing the workshop, liaisons who need additional guidance can schedule virtual or in-person consultations with one of our course accessibility team members.
