SmarterProctoring & Akindi

Of the nearly 9,700 spring test takers, 540 students used online proctoring through SmarterProctoring Live, which replaced Honorlock as FSU’s online proctoring service. SmarterProctoring employs professionally trained human proctors to record and monitor exams in real time, offering instructors a higher level of exam security and academic integrity for exams administered online.

SmarterProctoring joins Akindi as one of the latest innovations of the Testing Center. Akindi, a web-based scanning tool integrated into Canvas, allows instructors to use any copier-scanner to print and scan forms. Akindi replaced Scantron form scanning in December and, to date, has been used by 167 instructors to scan 70,669 sheets for 814 exams.

Pet a Dog, Pass a Test!

To help alleviate any anxiety among test takers, the Testing Center hosted an animal therapy session in the courtyard during Spring finals. The gathering featured Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) therapy dogs, who sought belly rubs from test takers and passersby. Clinical trials have shown that petting an animal reduces blood pressure and heart rate and releases oxytocin and endorphins, which helps reduce stress. Testing Center Customer Service Coordinator Jill Hogan arranged the session in tandem with animal therapy teams from TMH.

The TMH therapy dogs greet passersby with happy faces and wagging tails during Spring finals week at the FSU Testing Center.
